Spiced Smashed Up Roti Tacos

Our Spiced Up Twist on Smashed Taco’s . These are really easy and quick to make.

This recipe is Tangy, Spicy, Juicy Using a Roti for amazing Smashedness!

You can buy pre-packed great rotis in most supermarkets now frozen and fresh ones.

We used Geetas in our recipes and they were really good.

Why not freestyle your own version however you want with your fillings and type of mince you use too

Try adding smashed avocado and melted cheese –

Highly recommend using the Tamarind Sauce it really transforms these Roti Taco

Give it a go and get Spiced & Smashed Up! Its so easy, fun and tasty!

 This recipe is to make two large smashed Roti Taco’s you can just increase as by adding extra mince.

Suggest Approx 75-80g per smashed mince ball seemed to work well.


Approx 150-160g of mince of your choice (works well with Beef or Lamb)

Rotis – The size of my Roti was approx. in diameter

Spices – a sprinkling of the following into you mince

  • Turmeric
  • Ground coriander and Cumin
  • Maniben’s Family Garam Masala
  • Chilli Powder
  • Garlic Powder
  • Salt & Pepper

 Fillings of your Choice ( I used the following)

  • Diced Onion
  • Chopped tomato
  • Shredded Lettuce
  • Handful of fresh chopped coriander

Sauces of your Choice ( we used)

  • Tamarind Sauce / You can buy this in most supermarkets now.
  • Chilli Sauce of your Choice

Other Stuff

  • Large Frying Pan
  • The back of a plate to smash your burger (unless you’ve got a Pro smasher thingy!)


  1. Mix all your spices into you mince
  2. Chop up all your other toppings that will go into your Roti-Taco in prep
  3. Smash your marinated mince onto your Roti using the back of a plate so it covers & spreads across your Roti
  4. Place the Roti with the smashed mince side down into a hot pan for 3-4 mins approx. Then flip over for 30 secs
  5. Add your fillings, Sauces & Fold your Roti-Taco and Enjoy!
