Crispy OKRA Fries

OKRA Fries have suddenly become trendy and served as a tasty crispy snack in many Indian / Asian restaurants now down our way across London.

Here’s how simple and easy they are to make at home  (and a lot cheaper & tastier too!)

If you really really don’t want to Fry them you can chuck them in the air fryer.

Ingredients

  • – 250g of OKRA tops chopped off and quartered length ways
  • – 1 Tbsp Grated or whizzed ginger
  • – 1 Tbps Grated or whizzed garlic
  • – 1 Tbsps of Cornflour
  • – 2 Tbsps of Gram Flour (also known as Besan  or Chickpea Flour)
  • – Good Sprinkle of Salt
  • – 1 Tsp of Red Chilli Powder
  • – 1 Tsp Tumeric
  • – ½ tsp Hing (Asafoetida)
  • – 1 Tsp Garam masala

How To…Its that Simple

  • – Chop off the tops of your Okra and Quarter them lengthways
  • – In a large bowl Add all your other ingredients and mix well with a little drizzle of oil
  • – Deep Fry on a medium heat for 2-3 mins
  • – Once Fried drain on  kitchen paper and then into a large bowl
  • – I then sprinkled generously with UMMI Mix from the Road from Karachi Team and gave them another good mix Coat & Toss in your UMMI Mix or home-made sprinkle of your own
  • – Serve Hot – Perfect as a snack with a cold beer!
